Clothing
What you wear can have a huge impact on the condition of your psoriasis. Choosing the right clothing can help minimise psoriasis symptoms as certain types of clothing can aggravate the skin causing irritation and flare-ups.
It is common for people suffering with psoriasis to want to cover up with clothing. Very itchy, irritated, cracked areas of skin which often bleed and ooze will stick to clothing which further contributes to the bleeding.

Choosing the right clothing can be challenge. By following some simple easy tips the discomfort of clothing can be decreased:
Cotton
Cotton tends not to irritate the skin unlike some other fabrics. Wear lightweight cotton clothing against your skin and avoid fabrics such as wool and synthetic fibres as these do not allow your skin to breathe as easily as cotton.
Clothing options
If you have a tendency to cover up with long sleeves, trousers and high neck sweaters: to avoid irritation, perspiration and overheating, try layering cotton clothing under clothing to help keep moisture away from your skin.
Wear your clothing lose
It is important to be comfortable. If clothing is too tight it can rub on already irritated and or bleeding skin, which in turn can cause more irritation and or pain.
Wear light colours
A symptom of psoriasis is dry flaky skin which can appear on clothing. Consider wearing light colours over dark colours to avoid flakes of skin appearing on your clothing.
