Psoriasis Care - Steroids

Steroids need to be prescribed by a GP and can be used either topically, rubbed into the skin, or orally, taken in tablet form. The topical steroids are available as a cream or ointment and come in varying strengths. Some creams and ointments contain an antibiotic and these are usually prescribed if the skin is infected.

Used correctly, steroids may be a safe and effective way to cope with flare ups and can help to keep psoriasis under control. All steroids must be used sparingly and in conjunction with advice and guidance from a GP or dermatologist.
