Allergic reaction to contraceptive pill - Rihanna, UK
I am a 37 year old women, happily married with 3 great kids. I have suffered from psoriasis since I was 16, it first started on my scalp and the spread all over, when I was 20 I had a severe flare up which lasted 6 months and then cleared up of its own accord, over the years I have had mild psoriasis which I have controlled very easily with steroid creams but recently I started a new contraceptive pill which caused me to have some kind of allergic reaction and flared my psoriasis worse than I've ever had it, I am covered all over including the entire palms of my hands and soles of my feet, I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and covered in steroid creams and white soft paraffin which has helped some but my hands are still painful. I am also starting UVB treatment but I am very disheartened because I can see it flaring again in places where it had cleared. I am very down and feel the lowest I have ever felt, I haven't been able to look after my children, who have been staying with my in-laws for a a while as my husband has to go to work. My husband thinks it is just a matter of controlling it again but I not so positive as I feel as if I might also be developing arthritis in my hands due to some aches I feel. I really don't know what to do, not that I have much of a choice except wait and see how the treatments work. If anyone out there has had a similar experience or any advice or can help me in anyway please contact me. (May 2009) Contact Rihanna
